Munawar’s road to recovery

For Muhammad Munawar, a 57-year-old tailor and father of five, life had gradually become defined by his illness. For eight long years, he struggled with osteoarthritis in both knees, enduring constant discomfort that made it nearly impossible to work or walk without agony. As the sole provider for his family, Munawar visited multiple hospitals in Lahore and Gujranwala, hoping to find a solution. Every doctor gave him the recommendation to get a bi-lateral knee replacement, but with the cost ranging between PKR 1,400,000 to 1,500,000, it was far beyond what he could ever afford.

“I thought I’d live with this pain forever,” he says, “just raise my kids, and somehow manage.”

That’s when a friend suggested he visit Indus Hospital & Health Network. Munawar visited IHHN’s branch located in Jubilee Town, Lahore – a place known not only for its medical excellence, but also for never turning away a patient due to financial constraints.

At IHHN everything changed for Munawar. He was assessed and admitted, and under expert care, both of his knees were successfully replaced, completely free of cost. The procedure was technically complex, but carried out with skill, compassion, and dignity. The staff at IHHN treated Munawar not just as a patient, but as a person deserving of hope and healing.

After repeated exercise and practice that ensured painless movement, Munawar walks without pain. He has returned to his tailoring shop, capable of conducting his everyday tasks. More importantly, he is able to provide for and look after his children again. With regular exercise and support from IHHN, he continues to regain strength each day.

Stories like Muhammad Munawar’s show how Indus Hospital & Health Network brings patients back to life. They offer not just free treatment, but the chance to work again, live again, and dream again. Through its dedicated medical team and unwavering commitment to healthcare equity, IHHN stands as a ray of light for families across Pakistan.
